I have seen many customized leica but I would like to know if someone has ever put a MP VF with meter into a leica m2!Do you think is possible?how much does it wil costs?Thanks😀

I think its possible to put a M6 vf in the M2?, so I guess it should be possible to put a MP finder upgrade on that again? Dont think its cheap though if you need to put the M6 finder in there first...

You could possibly put the MP VF in an M2 but not the meter function ... (easily)

I've seen in this forum that leica asked 300 euro to upgrade a m6 ttl finder so i'm thinkin to buy a used m2 to upgrade to mp finder

The M2 body doesn't have provision for meter nor battery compartment so that would be one tough job to pull, if at all possible

I read somewhere that the Viewfinder upgrade is possible but not with the meter, and it should cost around 400 USD

I believe Don once converted an M3 to insert a meter, so it is possible, though likely to be very expensive.

Not long back there was a thread about a metered M3 created by DAG but if I remember correctly, it required a donor M6 for its chassis as well as an M3 for top cover and other parts. That said I'm not sure the M2 needs upgrading unless you want the extra framelines. I think it was around M4-2 time that Leica cheapened the finder introducing the flare problems that the MP upgrade solved. I just got my M6 .85 upgraded to cure it's flare troubles and rather poor low light finder. Joe

The M2's finder is perhaps its chief attraction. Why not buy an MP finder and meter with body attached?

I am curious as to why you want to do this were even possible or cost effetive? If you want an MP get one or a M6. Or you could find a decent M6 and upgrade it to the MP finder. But why alter the M2. The finder is so wonderful and uncluttered.

I like the look of a silver mp and also of the m2 (without the red leica logo in front of the camera) and I was wondering to "create " a mp (old leica look)camera but with a modern finder( without yellowing,dust,haze,fog,SEPARATION,flare..)I also like the m2 frame counter...
Least but not last here in Italy a New MP is 3000€:bang: and a used (very rare) is @1800/2000 € range.I thought I could buy a m2 (500€) and then CLA & change finder with 500/600 € (total about 1000/1100 euro )and so I could have a mp style leica!!!Or not?am I crazy?😀And i'll have a one of a kind leica!😎!

Yes, my understanding is that upgrading a M6 TTL finder to the MP standard only involves inserting/substituting a few new parts & doesn't result in a true MP finder, merely an approximation (mainly reduction/elimination of the patch flare problem). In contrast, it sounds like you want to replace the entire M2 finder w/a new MP finder & that's a bigger job (even without any meter implant).

wow yesterday i googled for leica m2 crr and found an image of a m2 restored and repainted in grey anthracyte by luton UK! it was just a beaty...they also repair(re silver) the vf...I'm interested in ....🙄
