M2 with new cover

I took the black soft release from my Bessa L and put it on the Bessa R, and put the silver soft release of the Bessa R on the M2.

To me it really made a difference.

A Glock in a pink holster? And carrying it concealed? Sounds like someone's coming out here. :)
Just kidding, Doug. :)

But really, people. The M2 now looks like a carry everywhere camera, looks less threatening and seems less bulky.

Yesterday I went to a large demonstration here in Amsterdam to shoot a bit. I brought the M2 with J-8. There were so many people with black SLR's and silver digicams that my pink M2 really stood out. All these people pretending to be pro's, covered in photo vests, burdened by the weight of camera bags and large tele lenses... seeing that made me glad I was ust carrying a little Zing bag from the belt, full with a handful of film, a mini tripod, a cable release, a little towel (in case things get wet), the CV 25, the J-9 (which I didn't use at all), and the Bessa R as backup.

So far the pink M2 did get some stares but no-one remarked openly about it. :)

RML,
Pink schmink.. It's up to you. But could you comment on how difficult the installation is? Did you follow the instructions on the web site? Do you have any hints or tips? I guess I'm a bit dull, but I'm leaning towards one of the nice dark brown leathers for my M2. Any suggestions on this?

Mike, sticking the leather onto the camera is EASY! I did indeed follow the particular instructions for the Leica and the leather was on in perhaps 10 minutes. I'm quite nimble with my fingers and I had no problem with handling the leather and preventing it from getting stuck everywhere. If you can do that the whole operation is easier than changing diapers, and much less smelly. :)

Mike, no. The vulcanite came off so easily; it crumbled under my fingers and left hardly any glue. And as it was away for a CLA I had no access to the camera for a while. When it came back I just didn't think about, and when the leather arrived I was too keen to put it on immediately. Perhaps when I get bored with the pink leather I'll try to remove all the glue.

RML,
Thanks. I'm in the same boat with the M2 away at the moment for a CLA. I plan to replace the covering like you did as soon as I get it back.
