Just in case anyone is thinking of ordering one, they don't fit as well as the original "red dot".

The black paint fades to silver on mine around the edge, so it looks as if there's a silver halo around the logo, which defeats the seamless look of having a black one...

Don says the black paint's very thin around the edge, so it might not make any difference exchanging it.
Refund's no problem, but by the time you fiddle around posting it back from Canada, it's really not worth the bother.

Back to the red dot it is.

Well,

After talking with Don, I'm going to try another one as I do prefer the look.

I've found some German acrylic model paint pretty much identical to the M's body finish, and will apply some to paper and roll the dot over it to finish the edge.
This will hopefully flesh out the size just enough, and eliminate any silvering on the edge.

I shall report back...

Interesting... I bought a black dot from DAG as a gift for a friend, and it is currently in place on his M240. I didn't see any halo-like effect like what you describe from silvered edges. It fits well and looks quite seamless to me.

Maybe a little variance in the dot finishes? Or possibly you're simply more particular than I am :)

Na, this one was a dud.

The black paint didn't cover the edge so it appeared as if there was a silver halo around it.
Was a hairline smaller in diameter as well, which I think was due to the lack of edge paint.

I picked up one for an M6 as well, perfectly finished.
