It does, I use it too on my M240. I actually use it at the 10X setting and it works very well. You can then compare how focussing through the EVF matches up to the RF, then you can adjust for any differences when using only the RF.

Yes. FYI the rear upper scroll wheel is what adjusts the magnification, giving either 1x, 5x or 10x whilst looking through the EVF, or liveview. As you then focus, the peaking and magnification become viewable.

Thank you for the tip. I will try it out. I will try to learn more about the settings on the M240. I will use the RF and also the EVF to try to nail the critical focusing for the 50/1.1.

yes the M240 has magnification available in both LCD or EVF2 live view mode.
however only on the center of the frame.

really great if you consider that now you can use older SLR lenses on your M240 if you choose so.

Yes, but I would need more adapters to be able to use my old SLR lenses. I may keep the M240 only for 20 weeks (or?) until I get back my M9.
I reviewed this morning the settings in the camera, and I followed what I saw posted online on suggested settings. I used the Olympus EVF-2 and I tried out focus peaking and focus assist at 10X. It seems to help.

Of course. The lens has been evaluated by others to be a sharp lens. It is difficult for me to get the lens to focus correctly with the M240 when using ISO 200 indoors. There is a possibility that my lens and my M240 need to be adjusted for each other. The lens on the M240 may back-focus, Brian has told me.

Many of your images look great.... like you have focus hit ...no problem.
The M240 is much more capable of higher iso compared to the m8/9 you are used to using.
Crank it up indoors and get some higher shutter speeds.
The live view is also capable. You might try cartying a tabletop tripod in a pocket.
This would allow you to compare the rf focus against the Live view in the LCD or evf while at wide open.

With such shallow DOF it's crucial to be still.

Now I know what you meant by it. Smearing in the corners. Maybe it is a good portrait lens at 2.8 or so, and then open up the aperture when needed.

I have used my copy of the 7artisans on my M8 and my Sony A7II and must admit I just love this lens!

Yes, on a fullframe cam the corners never get really sharp.
No, that is no problem for me since if I want edge-to-edge sharpness, I can use my Summicron 50 and if I shoot wide open at f/1.1, I do not need edge sharpness at all.
And yes, the lens is very sharp in the centre when focussed correctly.

Yes, the bokeh is unique with this lens. Wide open it produces patterns of radial rays I have never seen in any other lens. But stop it down slightly and the bokeh becomes creamy and velvety.

Yes, the built quality of the lens is pretty impressive.

All in all, the lens offers fantastic value. What you get for this price is more than surprisingly good!

I am used to use the lowest ISO settings and slow speeds with the E-P2 and E-PL1. It is frustrating for me to get less often images that are correctly focused when I use the 50/.1.1 and the M240. Who don't Leica cameras have built-in IS, or do they?

I believe the Q has IBIS, but no M, S, or SL do. However the SL lenses have IS capability... I agree it is a valuable feature, especially as we get older and shakier! 😉

Not just for "old shaky people" Doug. IS allows photographers the luxury of using low ISO at slow speeds for optimal quality.

I think that having used Live View and then looking at the Rf window before taking a photo caused me to change the focus points, resulting in soft images. Instead, I now compose first with the RF, focus with the RF, then fine focus with LiveView and take the photo. The images look better in focus than before.
