M3 advance lever on an M6

One of the reasons I prefer the M4 (it's not an M6 lever 😉 ) lever is that at least for me it is better than the M2/M3 lever for hooking/holding the camera between shots. I was kinda joking way above when I said I was thinking about replacing my M3's lever with an M4 lever - I don't think it's that big a deal and I don't feel the need to "personalize" my Leicas by modding the factory configuration. Still, I think the M4 lever is an improvement. YMMV, of course.

i have made similar changes on my M4, replacing the advance lever, preview and ST lever. i suppose the SL2 rewind is quite a worthwhile modification, i have brokethe rewind knob in the very first months of using the camera, my domke bag dropped with the camera in it, and it is interesting that the RF didn't come off but the rewind knob got broken. but i didn't know the SL2 mod then and replaced a M4 one

while i don't use the preview and ST often, if at all, it is purely cosmetics. my brother commented it as looking "luxuriant" with the change

i shot about 10 rolls and found the winding motion with the one piece advance lever smoother, and have a more "sure" feeling. it is very personal and i have to try it before i can decide on it.

now i have to give up the habbit nervously ticking the plastic tip though

I switched to a M3 style lever on my M6 a long time ago and loving it.

The M3 style looks better for hooking your thumb between shots. I wish I could try one sometime. Is that a 35 or a 50 Rafael?

That's a 50mm ZM Planar (my favourite lens 😀).
