I was shooting my trusty M3 the other day in some cold but it terribly cold weather, 36-38 degrees or so. Towards the end of my shooting I found the advance lever was becoming delayed, I guess would be the word. I felt resistance on the advance and some sluggishness. Maybe that’s the best way to put it. Anyway, I developed the roll and the last few frames had uneven exposure, pretty bad. I was shooting at a 1000th. I guess it’s time for a cla.

My question; is there a repair person who is best for an M3 or will any of the big three do a fine job? Youxin has cla’d my m4 and IIIb and they seem to be just fine. But, from reading on here, I know some repair people specialize in certain cameras and lenses. I have no issue with sending to Youxin, just figured I’d ask on here before I do so.

YYe did a fantastic job on my M3 DS and 5cm collapsible Summicron 2 years ago! Could not have been happier with communication, price, turnaround time and end results.

If your M3 is very special to you and if the most likely issue with it is complex, I would send the camera to Don Goldberg or to Sherry Krauter. If a standard CLA is needed, Youxin may be a good choice for a faster turn around and lower cost too.

The first time I brought a beautiful condition M3 to Youxin he checked it out first and warned me about the semi-transparent mirror starting to oxidize and recommended not getting a CLA and instead returning the camera. No charge. He then did a great job on another M3 I brought to him as well as on a Tower 45 I had him CLA a few years ago.
