M3 finder differences?

Wondering if there were any significant rangefinder differences over the years. I have an 831xxx and a 854xxx and while I cant put my finger on it, the rangefinder patch on the older camera seems to be bigger. The whole finder in general seems to be bigger. Is this completely my imagination or were there variances in the M3 finders?

The eyepiece of the Single Stroke M3 is bigger than the double stroke. The eye relief is a bit better with glasses.
