Hi,thinking about a user M3.About how much should I expect for a CLA and who is good? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me..........Robin

I'm just sending one to Youxin Ye. Email him, he'll quote you a very reasonable price.

Best,

Roland.

Our two M3s (mine and of the friend of mine) are on their way to us right now from Youxin. Were a real beater cameras, non-operational, rough-looking ones. They received a premium treatement by Youxin, a necessary repair (like shutter curtains replacement, lens mount replacement, some internal bits, a major CLA and new external cosmetics (a new vulcanit covering). All that for very reasonable price, considerably lower then I was quoted by other, well known and respected Leica repair/CLA masters in US. I'll be reporting back upon their arrival, but as for now we're more then satisfied by his prompt service, reasonable pricing and excellent communication.

No problems with not living in the US? I have just sent him an email regarding my M4.

No problem for him whatsoever. The owner covers all S&H (including insurance if desired) expenses, Youxin recieves the package, does the necessay work and ships it back (with shipping charge being covered within the payment).

Youxin's promised turnaround (while corresponding with him, prior to lens shipment) - 3-4 weeks which was quite acceptable for us (bearing in mind about similar turnaround times by Sherry and 2-4 months by DAG). However, in practice, our cameras were done within first 4 days upon their reception by Youxin ! That was quite unbelievable and exciting. He maintained corresponding all the time during the repair, informing us about the developments, asking our opinion and advising what is must and what can be omitted (if we would be saving $$). He even atatched a high-res. images of the cameras at work at each major step of his treatement. Also provided several descriptive images of the cameras after att the discussed work has been accomplished.
So in total, both cameras were ready to get shipped backt o us within about 4-5 days after they landed on his desk, which is quite incredable.
Having said that, I guess the actual turnaround times are dependent on his work load at given moment, so shorter then his officialy advertised rutnaround times probaly may not be taken for granted.

If I recall Youxin did mine for around $200, maybe less, and the turnaround time was about two weeks.

That was for a general CLA with no real issues.

An alternative for europeans is Will van Manen at www.kamera-service.info. He is located in the Netherlands.
He did a M3 and M4 for me and I'm very pleased with the result. Turnaround time was about 2 weeks. He also provides photos of work in progress. Apart from internal work he also can fix up the outside. He replaced a bit of missing vulcanite on one camera. It's very hard to spot where it is. That actually is included in the CLA.
Cost was 150 euro per camera, that's excluding shipping costs.

Wholeheartedly, Youxin Ye. He's fast, reasonable and good.

I got my M2 back today. It has never been as smooth as it is now.

If you're lookingto buy an M3, Youxin has a DS in stock, CLA'd, for $450. I paid the same for a user SS from him, in good mechanical and optical condition.

Use him while you can, I think his medium term plan is to move to China.

Another vote for Youxin Ye. I just had him CLA my IIIf and he did an excellent job - overnight; I met him in person yesterday and he gave it back today. I am very satisfied with his services. :)

Youxin Ye CLA'd both of my M3's seven months ago. They came back to me in less than two weeks after the packages went out to him. The work was fantastic; the cameras are now in perfect working order. I have shot 20 or 30 rolls with each camera since the work, and they still both feel like they did when they came home. I think the price was under $100 each, but whatever it was, it was positively cheap. I would recommend him to anyone anywhere. I know he is planning to visit China at the end of the summer, so email him now, and get your camera to him quickly.
