I have my M3 soon to be finished (repair/CLA by Youxin), but it didn't come with take-up spool. I'll need to figure such (probably from DAG if he has such in stok or look elsewhere...), but I also have been advised to check M3 quick-loading kit (which might be somewhat more expensive). What is that kit ? Does it really worth the premium over regular spool ? How it works ?
Also, I'll be posting WTB for the spool soon here in RFF...

DAG's M spare part page is listing M spools at the moment ($35)
They do come up on ebay from time to time, probably for about $10 less
I have a quick load kit on my M2; I find it only slightly quicker in use than the standard spool. IMO its better to have a couple of spare standard spools pre-threaded with the film leader.

I have a quick-load kit on an M3, and regular spools on another M3 and my M2. I find that keeping an extra spool pre-threaded is faster.
My M3 has a quick load kit and I find it pretty easy to use. I can't compare to a camera without one as I have never used one.

Try out with the standard one first, before you decide. I have a M3 and always use the standard spool only, and I don't find it troublesome.
Even if you find it not very user friendly as compared to recent DSLR models, it still might not be an issue as you will be slower when using rangefinder camera.
Only my 2%. You'll find it yourself after you try.

Rapid load kits go for silly money, Alex. Like David, I find it just as easy to carry film ready loaded to spare spools which go for a few pounds on eBay.

Since it's already at Youxin's how about asking him to put an M4 spool in ?
I have quick-load kits in M2 and M3 and find it more useful in the M2. Still
good in the M3, but you have to reset the counter by taking the spool
out so some of the speed advantage on the M2 is lost.

I only had the one spool with my M3 but that was no real reason to complain. The traditional "quick-load kit" is a couple of pre-threaded spare spools. I've seen people using propah quick-load kits and they didn't seem appreciably faster or easier.

Thank you guys.
Roland, do you mean M4 film take-up cahmber can be modified to take M4 spool instead of the removable one (M3 original) ? Is M4's one simialr to M6 ?

I'm not sure if it can be done, Alex, check with Youxin. The M4 spool is the "tuplip" type, like in the M6.
Let us know,
Roland.
