So within 12-18 hours the Panasonic/leica summilux 25mm f1.4 will be announced... This will be the lens that brings me back to m4/3 methinks. Anyone else excited?

The G3 is looking like a fantastic camera with better high ISO performance than equivalent APSC dslr's, and paired with the small 25mm f1.4 (50mm long), it should be a great combo!

Check out the 4/3 50/1.4. Won't be cheap for sure. And what's wrong with the fast CV ?

supposed to be under 800 pounds... I'll pay for IQ in a compact package.
As for CV - I don't think adapted lenses are as good as the native m4/3 ones. There's no 25mm f1.4 lenses in the cv lineup anyway...

Sorry yeah, I'd love to use that lens as it looks fantastic but alas, no AF - not even electronic contacts. Personally, I'd much rather an AF lens on a mirrorless body as I know how annoying it is magnifying the screen/evf all the time to try and achieve manual focus. Also, the leica/pana 25mm should be about 1/3 to 1/2 the size of the voigtlander!

(I'm happy to MF on my 5d with zeiss primes but the very reason to own a m4/3 system is for convenience - which native AF lenses are much better for)

Yes, absolutely agree with that. For most of my digital shooting, and I shoot an Olympus E-P1, it is auto-focus. For normal length there is the Panasonic 20/1.7 pancake which fits the compact profile of m43 cameras better than the 25/1.4 just released. The 25/1.4 is a big bulky looking lens. And they are talking $1100 for it. For $100 more there is the super speed Voigtlander M43 25/.95.

It's going to have to "knock my socks off" to get me to stop using my 20/1.7 - that lens is super sharp in the center and darn good otherwise. And it handles beautifully on m43...

Then again, you can never have too many "normal" lenses.... and there is a very noticeable difference between 20 and 25 on m43... and if the bokeh is super sweet....

See, I'm talking myself into it already. :>)

A whole bunch of chromatic aberration and blooming. Works great with B&W (it makes me believe that's exactly what they had in mind: "dreamy" B&W film photography), but all the CV lenses that I've tried (35mm Ultron, 35mm f/1.4, 40mm f/1.4), except for the 15mm Heliar and the 35mm Nokton, have this "particularity", evident when using my M8.
