My M5s need red dots!
The camera may be shipped today, Monday August 11th. I guess I'll receive it in two or three days, which means that by the time the camera comes, the crew working in my basement removing asbestos tiles will be done and the cats will return to their old selves. Right now, everything seems like suspended.
Boy, will that camera be some relief...

Camera just arrived. I left good feedback for the seller. Slight bump was unreported, and the film advance is a bit stiff, but, all in all, it's a nice copy. RF patch lines up, VF is cristal clear, speeds sound OK (1 second benchmark checks out, and so does the famous tingle in the 1/15th). Now, I'll put a generic Leica strap on it, my black MR meter, some film (got me some ISO 200) and we'll run a check.
Talk to you later!

Leica M Recidivist
Have you figured out whether it's got all the old optical components in the RF (the condenser lens)?

According to A. Nemeng, the cameras with these and other problems were numbered between 1468xxx to 1482xxx. Mine has a serial number that starts with 150, and, according to the seller, it was CLAed last year.
It looks like a serious camera, though...

i've also got a great yet somewhat sad story of acquiring an M4. since adding the beautiful chrome m4 to my arsenal, i've had to sell off many trusty slr gear to fund my lust after lens(es) to go with the m4. (i.e. the angulon) i know, some are saying why get the m4 when you use an angulon with it?!
the reason: i've lusted after the m4 for years (especially the black enamel) but can not justify spending that much when i can get a chrome and the angulon for the same price. and i can use normal focal lengths with it.
anyways, congrats on the purchase, a few more dings and scratches will personalize it...

Whoa... the black-enamel M4 is really something to lust for... I saw some very good photos of one online and it made me drool. But then, this one looks like it has seen things already. And I like that!
Thanks for posting!
