M42 on Nikon mount ?? Adaptor exist ?

I have a Fuji S5 body and a few M42 lens which I would like to use. Do a bit of research and it seems that adaptors without optical element have problem focusing at infinity. So question is where I can find one that is corrected, and what effect would the optical element cause ? I'm not exactly into buy an EOS body just to be able to play with retro lens once in a while so any help is greatly appreciated

Forget about it. The problem is that the lensmount-to-film distance in the Nikon system is slightly bigger than it is in the M42 system. Ergo, it is impossible to focus an M42 lens on a Nikon body: it will ALWAYS be too far from the film plane.

The only way you can compensate for that is to use a supplementary lens between the body and the M42 lens. Otherwise, you'd be sawing your Nikon. The problem is that there is no quality M42-Nikon converters that exist.

Of course, you can always focus precisely on subjects that are closer than infinity. If you do mostly portraiture or hyperfocal-locked street shots, then you should be OK.

You can buy a cheap M42 body, like a Praktica (hey! I just have one for sale, look at that! 😀 ), or get a new Pentax body. Their digital line works very fine with M42 lenses, and is a really cheap system.
