I've been trying to figure out how the market pricing on the M6 "classic" with a 0.85x finder runs. Obviously, there aren't a lot around, but there are half a dozen or more on the 'net, some of which have been for sale for quite a while. I think the cheapest was around US$1800 and they went up from there. They seem to be above, often significantly above, the price of a comparable M6 classic with the 0.72x finder. While this makes sense, from a point of view of pure numbers, I'm wondering: is that really where the market for these is at?

Any thoughts would be welcome, especially if you have any kind of price info on actual sales.

I paid $1100 for such a model M6. There have been about 3000 M6 0.85 built, so it is a relatively "rare" model.

I could have bought an M6 with the 0.72 finder for $875 (in EX+ condition), but I went for the mintish 0.85 model instead for $225 more money.

I'm trying to figure out a price myself. Best guesstimate is $1000 to About $1300, based on condition. I just picked up a M7 and when it gets here I will probably put my M6 0.85 up for sale. There were only 3000 made, but not as high a demand, so I think Franks is right about a few hunderd more (give or take)than the M6. Really a great camera, but I'm shooting a 28 and 35mm more and it is hard to frame properly w/o an aux viewfinder. It's perfect for the 50, just like the M3.
Wish I was rich and did not have to worry about little things like the house payment.

I got my .85 M6 in trade, with a great guy (thanks, Butch!) so I don't have a price reference. I'm mainly a 50mm guy, so this camera is perfect for me. The 35mm framelines are just useable (I wear glasses) for the few times I may use a wider lens.

I love the 0.85 mag M. Anything from 50mm on up it is great, especially with the 1.25 screw-in magnifier. Using that as well gives you a total mag of approx. 1. 🙂

I can't wait to try out this combination. My magnifier is (apparently 🙄) in the mail to me as I write this.

I won't tell you all what I paid for mine because I don't want to be beaten but I have found that even though I use the 35mm lens 98% of the time, I don't mind the frame lines. I suppose because I am so used to SLR styles that to me it just feels natural to figure ok essentially everything I see in the viewfinder is in the shot.

The added mag. is nice for my 90mm lens though!
