M6 Battery Problem, perhaps?

I put a brand new battery in my M6 TTL about 2 weeks ago. I do not leave the shutter cocked, but I do not always put a lens cap on either. The shutter speed knob was not set to off. My question is, does the meter in the M6 continue to meter without the shutter being cocked with the lens cap off and the shutter not set to off? The reason I'm asking is because the battery was dead after 2 weeks. I'm not sure if it was because of the above? Because I may have a problem with my camera? Because I just got a bad battery, or all of the above?

I hope that's not the trouble with mine. I have not had for a full year yet.

Where did you have it done and how much did it run if you don't mind me asking?

I may just have to take the battery out and convert my M6 into a MP ;-)

I am in the UK so it went to CRR mainly to unstick sticky finder lines. It wasn't much extra for the diodes.

Kim thank you for taking the time to respond to my post. I was just reading another forum about a battery drainage issue with the M6TTL. Apparently, when the camera is not turned off the battery can and will drain very quickly , shutter cocked or not. I left mine on for 2 weeks straight so according to what others are saying it should have drained. I guess I will have to get in the habit of turning it off when not in use. This should not be too hard because I do the same thing with my OMs'

Thanks again!
