M6 LHSA wear ?

Would you agree that the wear on the camera is not normal, it looks contrived to me.

I'm probably wrong on this but a buddy of mine has an M6 TTL LHSA and IIRC his came with the film advance lever they currently use on the MP and it did not have the Leica disk logo on the front, just the engraving on the top.

That is a millennium edition, the LHSA TTL is as it appears on that ebay listing (I own one). As far as the wear, there doesn't appear to be much other signs of use other then right on the edges. Mine has some light brassing but there are a decent amount of very minor hairline scratches in places. This could just be lost in the photos, but hard to tell. It seems a bit to much and to clean for the age of the body.

It looks a bit supernatural to me, like it was sanded with emery cloth. This does not mean it's a bad camera.
I got a used MP with the same anodized black paint, it wears in a differnt way though.

An object like a camera should only wear wear it is touched in normal usage. (I am disregarding accidents.) I have an early M6 black. Its only wear points are the area of the advance lever and the battery area. To me the wear appears uniform and applied. Why would there be wear on the front of the camera in the area of the rangefinder windows?

Mine started to show wear on the sides by the strap lugs long before anywhere else. This one appears (based on what little you can see of the sides) to have very little there. Maybe they never used a strap. 😉

That seems a bit much, and a bit too even. The BP on these cameras is very good and thick, you mostly see light corner wear right on the apex of the edges. I haven't seen an LHSA that worn...

Funny, I saw this the other day and knew which camera you were talking about before following the link.

I think it is both. Normal wear that was then "freshened."

The absence of wear on surfaces other than the edges raises a little suspicion for me. I think it's very possible/likely that wear was produced all at once.

Which seems like a really dumb thing to do to a camera IMHO.

Fake brassing intentionally inflicted upon a camera comes across as something a poser would do to a camera to make it appear that he/she is a "real" photographer... 🙄

Millenniums have a red dot. I dont think Ive ever seen any variations of the M6 without a dot of some sort.

As for this suspect ebay listing, that crappy brassing is just unfortunate. I bet this fella was expecting to be knee deep in boob with that awesome pro looking leica 😉

Looks like it was carried a lot in a bag with an abrasive fabric interior.

At least that is the generous theory 🙂.
