M6 meter woes?

It seems that in low light situations, I can only get the right red led to light up. In testing this, I set the ISO so that I can use 1/30 sec and below. The problem only shows in these slower times. I will meter and get the over exposure led to come on. Then I start turing he apeture ring to the left, but the left led never comes on. The right one is either full on bright, or off. At one click of the apeture ring, I would expect the right light to get dimmer and the left light to come on a little. It doesn't happen. The right light just goes blank.
I have cleaned all the contacts and put in brand new batteries. Any thoughts?
 
Stop by Blue Moon Photo and maybe they know someone locally who could test it for you and give you an idea of what's wrong and the cost to fix it.
