Hi my first Leica is on its way in the form of a 1991 black M6.I have mainly used Contax G and various Bessas and still have a R4a.So what can i expect in terms of feel/weight and performance from my new body. And will i ever get used to not having aperture proirity. I bought it from a used camera outlet with a good name and they say all there cameras are checked over to make shure all is ok.It is in mint- condition.I have read on this forum about pcb boards in earlier models can fail but is mine an early model.I feel like a child at xmas🙂 i will post a pic of my new baby when it arrives. Thanks for any input

Ian

Yours is well past the transition to the new circuitry.

I've owned just about every M body over the past 35 years. If I had to keep just one to use, it would be an M6. I hope you will enjoy your new camera!

I can second JNewell. My '95 M6 has seen quite a bit of use and has never put a foot wrong. It's a little overdue a service (I'll try to get 'round to putting it in this year), but it's still silky smooth and an utter joy to use. If I could only keep one camera this'd be the one, with no hesitation.

What year or serial number did they make the transition and what did the change?

Congratulations Ian and yes you'll get over not having AP. 🙂 Just use XP2 and you can make all sorts of mistakes and the film's latitude will cover it. 😉
