I am looking to buy M6 red dots as cheap as possible, since I want to experiment on them (yeah, yeah,... black paint:bang

I've been looking for a Black Dot to put on an M4. What is it with this attraction to these Dots?? They're just so cool.

Sorry, but I have it the other way.
I would love my M6 to be dotless like your M4.
The red dot is so "screaming" on a black camera, I just don't understand what "they" had in mind...
Anyway, I just want to experiment, to have it all black. (I don't need the "Leica" writing.)

Black dots used to be quite difficult to get hold of as Leica would not supply them to independent repairers / re-sellers. I believe that has now changed. You can get black dots on Ebay, but they are expensive.
For both black and red, I'd have a word with Don at DAG Camera Parts to see if he could help:

Yeah just email Don from DAG that you would like a black dot, he'll be able to tell you if he has them in stock or not.

Frankly, I'm a "no-dot" guy.
One of the things I like about the MP. I prefer anonymity when I shoot, and I don't need a bright red dot attracting the eye. Nor do I want anything that shouts "I've got a really expensive camera!" I'm not out to make a status display--prefer to have people think I have a humdrum point-and-shoot, and ignore me.

I'm much the same as Paul.
I try to keep my Chrome M3 tucked in my jacket when I'm walking around.
I couldn't care less what people think.
My family and friends don't understand why I still shoot film.
Well.. The ones that haven't seen the pictures anyway

My M5s need red dots!
Those red dots are soooooo distracting...
If you are in the US, have you tried Leica NJ? Dave Elwell would be pretty helpful in this case.

... likes film again.
A small piece of some black tape over the red dot is cheap, doesn't say "Leica" and the "conversion" can easily be undone...
Leica Camera AG is no more allowed to sell / use the "black dot" since they don't own the rights of the name / logo.

Thanks all.
I have talked to Don, and he quoted me 10$ for a red dot, which is perfect for a replacement, but can be a bit steep if I want a bunch of them for experimentation of painting.
I am not after black dotsince they have reached a status and rarity that apparently makes them very expensive, and I really couldn't care lesss to actually have "Leica" written there, whatever the background is.
Actally, I would love to have a simple black metal, blank adhesive cover.
Maybe an idea for some Chinese entrepreneur
EDIT
Gabor,
Thanks for the idea, but I've seen some pretty ugly M6s with the remains of the glue from tape, and it wasn't a pretty sight...

TC, within the last year I've convinced Leica NJ to send me a black dot. claim to have a Leica that originally comes with it.
I posted a topic about this before.. Some people sell Black dots and ridiculous prices... All in the name of stealth I suppose.

If you want to get some stickers custom made, talk to C.J. at TedWeber.com - he's their artist guy and has a connection for getting any kind of stickers made.

Seems I recall the red ones were a trademark violation, so they went to black.
I prefer the screw cover over the hole so i can adjust the RF vertical. Just my OPINION

But how often do you really adjust that? Once every 10 years, maybe?

qu'est-ce que c'est?
I'm color blind, and the red dot on my M6 doesn't stand out so much, at least to me. I don't understand what the fuss is all about.

I have a chrome M6, and I wonder if I could get a regular dot and remove all the paint, having a metal only dot. Anyone ever tried that?
Michael, I have some red dots, they cost less than $2 from Leica. How many do you want?

Boy, I can't see the dots on my M7s. I guess I'm always looking through the VF.

Get a chisel and a hefty hammer. Stick the tip of the chisel just under the red dot and give it a couple of solid, swift whacks with the hammer.
The red dot will come out and there will be an empty hole plus a little collateral damage. No-one will attempt to steal your camera and you can live without fear.
