Did anyone undertook its M6 RF upgrade + CLA with Sherry and/or DAG ?
I'm considering to have mine go through it soon, in fact as soon as I'll get reassured in my M3 which is coming now from Youxin.
I just emailed Sherry regarding the treatment - was quoted approx 460-505 $ for RF upgrade (to MP-style RF) + CLA and her claimed 3 weeks turn-around.
Also emailed DAG to see his quotes.
I remember I was noticed in some related online discussions somewhat lower quotes (probably by DAG ?) then that by Sherry, though according to the horror sroties on waiting it appears DAG is qiote overloaded with repairs and I may find myself in-line for several months (some lamented abuot as long as half year waiting 🙁 which is unacceptable for me).

Any recent experiences/prices from them ?

Alex

My full CLA of the M6 with VF upgrade and M3 lever added on was $510 plus shipping done by DAG
$50 for lever alone. VF upgrade was a bit less than doing it by itself, as it was done same time as CLA. So doing both at the same time is a good idea that will save about $60 or so, compared to being done separately.

Xmm, indeed it sounds pretty much in line with Sherry's offering, probaly sherry may be just a tad more expensive. Without lever, it would be 460$ for CLA + VF upgrade, right ? That is also what Sherry has quoted me if no small parts replacement is necessary (seals, , insulation, etc.. - small parts add another 45$).
I guess the game will be more about lead times rather then actual prices - DAG's turn-around times, accoding to what I hear on forums are quite scary....

This is what Don charged me, Alex:

M6 CLA: US 290.00
M6 flare-free optics: US 150.00
removal of M6 135, & 75mm frames: US 30.00
Return shipping: US 22.22

The CLA included electronics upgrade. Best,

Roland.

Thanks Roland, quite elaborative..
Upgarde of electronics ??? What can be upgraded there ? My M6 is of 1996-97 production years, shuodl the meter be upgraded to some kind of newer one ? (mine works wonderfully and very precise).
So, I figure for a CLA + VF upgrade excluding S&H I should expect his offer for:
290+150 = 440$.

What was his turn-around time ?

Both my M6 are old, from 1985/86. I had this one "fixed" since I
noticed that its meter was about 2 stops less sensitive than the
other one ... The only reason to send it in, really, the other
changes were just for convenience. This might not be an issue for
you at all, Alex, since your camera is younger.

Roland.

In my experince, Sherry's turn-around time is faster than 3 weeks, even though this is the time she quotes. And yes, the overhaul plus the finder upgrade is around $500. Highly recommended.

Thanks guys.
Just received the quote from DAG - exactly the amounts referred in teh thread above.
However, we mentioned 3-4 weeks turn-around time..go figure...I read enough sad staories about months of waiting from him....dunno...

In Canada a CLA by Gerry Smith is about $390. He told me if the VF upgrade is done at the same time it's only $100 extra. His turnaround seems to be about two weeks.

DAG has done a few CLAs for me in the past; and in every case I can find no fault with his quality work. But this past year I had a terrible wait time. I would look elsewhere for my future electronics related CLAs for my MP. But for the all-mechanical M body, is there a better fellow than Youxin Ye? I have had two bodies worked on by him and he has done great work, communicated effectively, and charged reasonable rates.

Surely enough, all mechanical camera (up to M4) would certainly go to Youxin.
I had my M3 revived by him fro the ashes to a new happy life, totaly non-operational body that sat for nearly two decades unused and abandoned has been brought to life making it smoother then my 1996-97 year M6 ! Parts replaced, both curtains replaced, turned to be a real joy to shoot with. All that for a fraction of what it would cost by a certified Leica technician.
Having said that, Youxin does not work on any camera with traces of electronics, neither he does any but very basic RF optics treatements, hence M6 must eitehr be treated by Sherry, DAG or any other certified and well-established Leica professional...

Don fixed mine, but it was because the meter went tango uniform.

I'm correspoding with Don now, asked whim about his realistic lead times for CLA+RF upgrade for M6. He claims 3-4 weeks. Now, referring him to many of his customers suffering from much longer, actually up to some 5-6 months waiting, he responded that these customers had either quite complex repairs and also he was hugely overloaded by Xmas 2006 rush that was unexpected for him and just unbelievable. but now he is very close to catch up with it and there is no signs of an upcoming Xmas rush, so he expects normal turn-around times - within his claiemd 4 weeks.
