hey, sorry, having no experience on these forums, I assumed it was cool to post in a few spots...just tried to delete one of the other two but couldn't figure it out....lesson learned

How did I missed it?
I went exactly same way. Canon 300 in the turn of millenium, same lens and green box and then quit, and then 500D and 5D for something more serious. And then Leica M and street photography.
Very solid article with many interesting photos.
