M6 too cheap?

I am kind of looking for a TTL one myself, but if a nice working classic were to cross my path again at the right price I'd jump on it. I've got a Bessa now and it is doing the job for me that the M6 would, but the M6 is my goal.

I kind of hope to stumble across one at a local thrift shop, flea market or garage sale. I've rarely found good cameras at these before, but you never know.

Until then, I am socking tiny bits of money away for the M6 just the same. To be prepared for the day I do find one in my budget range.

They also have a TTL .85 for $1200. I don't ever use flash so I'm not really considering it.

Never say never. Sometime in the future, you may discover the beauty of electronic flash on the Leica. It happened to me.

Sounds like a market value price to me or roughly thereabouts. I guess I got lucky when I picked up my mint in box M6TTL .58X chrome for $750... the seller was going to put it on consignment but that is what the shop offered (they planned to sell for $1500) so the seller decided to go through craigslist.

Always keep an eye peeled. You never know when you'll get lucky!

Wow, MIB for $750, that's one heck of a good deal IMHO.

I bought mine (same model) in a local store two years ago for the equivalent of 1050 USD. Not a mark on it, excellent cosmetic condition. I think it has seen way more use with me than with the previous owner because after a while I determined that the shutter speeds were off. I sent it for service and confirmed the problem was lack of use, not abuse, that caused the issue. Ever since the shutter mechanism was lubricated and recalibrated it has been perfect. No regrets!

I suggest you seriously consider it, and test it out as others recommend above. Nothing fishy to me about an M6 at that price.

Like I tell everyone. You rarely will ever lose money on a well priced Leica. That's what I paid for mine several years ago. Go for it. It's money in the bank.
