Another student with a Leica here, two really, and two Rolleiflexes... And too many other cameras. Affording the stuff you want is never really an issue, saving money on bar runs by laying proper groundwork at home, eating noodles for breakfast for a month, everything is fair game as a saving if it means you've got the photographic tool or doodad you started saving your hard earned students money for in the first place.
The M system is fascinating however, cleverly machined and some times simple in spite of it's complexity, like the little RF cam you were fascinated by, such a smart, yet simple mechanism.

Now I've just got to take it slowly and get used to this camera. Bit of a pain without a strap but I've got that on the way.
