Kansas. OMG. Kansas.
So I get this used, nice-looking M6 TTL and the meter just dies half-way through the 1st roll. I try two brand new batteries, nothing. Does it sound like I now have an “M4-P” or is there something else I can check before sending it in for repairs (to DAG?)? Your advice greatly appreciated.

Clean the battery contacts carefully and try it again. Sandpaper the actual battery.

Or "suddenly" have it repaired.

Everything breaks "suddenly".

Well, you come with a three minute warning too.

Your right arm tingles before you drop from a heart attack, and the EMT guy pockets your wallet AND your M8.

Thank you guys for the tips, I will be sure to hide my M8 as soon as I feel any tingling...

Turns out I inserted the new battery backwards (twice). As punishment for such idiot behavior I will be giving the said M6 away to the next person who can properly pronounce Grzegorz Brzeczyszczykiewicz... (persons living anywhere near the Vistula river must not apply 😛)

I knew you had installed the batt jacked up - see my post on Pnet.
Thanks Paul, you were right on the money! (“are the batteries installed proper side up?”), I can’t believe I didn’t start by checking the most obvious possibility first …
