Just got a nice M6 TTL. Reading the manual, I want to confirm that the circuitry will shut down automatically after X seconds. The meter is activated by depressing the shutter button? I do not have to move the shutter dial to B or Off to shut off the power? (That would be a hassle). So, if that is true then what is the purpose of the Off setting, when to use it?

Leave the camera in the bag and something presses slightly against the shutter button. Battery is empty the next time you take it out of the bag a few days later. The off setting prevents this.

Always carry a spare battery or two in your bag. They are inexpensive, small and lightweight.

Yes I found that out the other day. Left the meter on with the camera in the bag, next time I tried it, dead as a dodo. Did the same with the motor wind, left that switched on and the next time I pulled out the camera the roll was finished. If the button can find something to activate it,it will. I hope I have learned my lesson. I now have spare batteries in the bag just in case.
