While the normal production black/chrome M6 had a zinc top plate the titanium version had a brass top. The titanium finish itself is a plating/finish process, which Leica stated at the time "is particularly resistant to wear", although it seems the chrome may be just as good if not a bit better.
The toned down not so bright look [as chrome], and the brass top are two attractions, the 'ostrich' leather camera cover is actually just cow leather with a pattern imprinted. If you like it, its worth a bit more than the standard M6.
And yes, the Titanium 50th anniversary M7 is made for solid titanium.
