M6 TTL vs M6 TTL Titanium ? Worth it ?

While the normal production black/chrome M6 had a zinc top plate the titanium version had a brass top. The titanium finish itself is a plating/finish process, which Leica stated at the time "is particularly resistant to wear", although it seems the chrome may be just as good if not a bit better.

The toned down not so bright look [as chrome], and the brass top are two attractions, the 'ostrich' leather camera cover is actually just cow leather with a pattern imprinted. If you like it, its worth a bit more than the standard M6.


And yes, the Titanium 50th anniversary M7 is made for solid titanium.

Well thank you guys for all the replies.

Yes it looks gorgeous the camera. Unfortunatly, I can see several for sale but not one has lenses and I-ve been trying to scout around for Ti Lens and sold without a camera they are very very very very difficult to find. Might well say impossible.

So yes, I fancied the idea of buying a M6 Ti, I love the looks but it does looks silly with a silver / black lens. It does look gorgeous with a ti lens.

M7 can be made of solid Ti, hurray, what doesnt cheer me up is the price tag. I-ve seen one for sale with a 50 1.4 in the region of 6000 pounds ( around 9500 usd if I remember the exchange rate by heart correctly ).

If I had 9500usd I would buy a M8 , keep the M7 , upgrade the 35 for a 1.4, get a 28 F2 asph and upgrade my 90 to a 75 1.4. Unfortunatly, I dont have 9500usd, neither 6000pounds 🙂

Hmm, I suspect that's true for a given value of "solid", Jon. It would be one thing to roll out a body shell from titanium sheet and form it round a die cast chassis, quite another to machine M top and bottom plates from Ti billet stock.

And the oiled saddle leather is black leather and now solid Titanium.
Lenses are solid titanium, optical glasses inside the lenses is made of glass
and not made of solid titanium 😀
The main body and parts are basic body and parts and not made of titanium ?
(lightweight but extremely rugged die-cast aluminium ???) Ask Leica.
For me it's a solid Titanium camera 🙄

I have no name titanium watch I got in Akihabara, no idea if it's real titanium or what %, but I wore it for years, and it is still rugged.

The Hexar RF reportedly has a stronger top and bottom than the Leica titanium models, but I'd guess that if you want a titanium leica, it's mainly for collecting anyways.

as far as I know, the regular Nikon F3's (most all are dinged/dented somewhere) have held up as well as the titanium versions.
