M6 viewfinder peculiarity..

I've noticed this on my M6 classic recently, incidentally, this is also right after a 3/4 CLA was performed.

Whenever I move my head off from the center of the viewfinder (enough distance to where the rf patch is barely beginning to leave the field of view) the image from the rf window within that patch would disappear completely. This occurs in all 4 directions and in all lighting conditions.

I don't recall I have noticed this before, but it's possible that it has always been like this. I wonder if the CLA just made this behavior much more obvious. Either case, I've found this behavior to be very distracting..

Is what I'm describing normal for an M6?

Pardon me if I'm dense, but I don't understand why you would do that. If you move your head far enough your eye won't even be behind the viewfinder. But if you really are having a problem, then wouldn't it be best to discuss it with the person who did the "3/4 CLA" ? Maybe it needs the other 1/4.

Maybe i didn't describe what I was doing properly..

When I move my head around, I'm basically trying to find the frameline that is out of my view since I'm a glasses wearer.

My eye is still looking through the viewfinder but it's not looking at the rf patch straight on..

Is what I'm experiencing the famed M6 VF flare up?

I don't wear eyeglasses. I would experience the patch flare up when I'm focusing near a very bright area. That's what I think is the normal flare-up. When this happens, I move my eye a bit at an angle from the viewfinder, I don't see the flare-up and can focus.

Perhaps you should bring it back to the guy who did the CLA. Or, maybe it's time to update the viewfinder to the MP-type. I had my .85 M6TTL updated to the MP type by Leica, Inc. This is what they stated in the invoice afterwards: "Occasionally, mild flaring remains which cannot be removed." It cost me $262. The viewfinder is brighter and haven't experience any flare-ups so far. From what I've read in the 'net so far, it's just the M3 that's free from the flare-ups.
