Just one more word about professional photography and light meters: If you are being paid to take pictures, if your job depends on getting that image, you'd be plain silly not to use a light meter, if only to double-check your educated guess.
Developing an experienced eye to gauge the light without a meter is romantic-sounding, and sure, some of the greats did it that way (after they became great and could afford to shrug off a gaff), but in today's competetive marketplace, do you really think you'll get a call-back if you screw up?
