Hello, first of all sorry in advance for my silly question, I know there are more important things to discuss.

Recently I found this box listed on the 'bay and I thought that it would have been a nice place where to rest my recently acquired M6 Wetzlar.

The box seemed to complement my camera well, has a Leitz red dot on it and even the color code is correct (I have the black model and the stamp on the box says it contained a 10 404). Plus, it costed around 10$, so I got it.

When I received the package I established that the serial number of the camera originally contained in the box is following my camera by just a 3k number, 1 676 888 vs 1 679 882.

Great, but.

The fact is that the camera do not fit well into the box. As you can see the package is composed by two pieces, an external cardboard and an inner polystyrene "rest". When the camera is on the polystirene, they can be still inserted into the cardboard, but the top side bend manifestly.

Then my question: what's wrong? Can someone show me an original early M6 package in order to help me to solve this small mistery?

Thank you,

I have no specific knowledge of Leica packages but to me it seems that a second styrofoam part is missing.

Yup, that piece of styrofoam does not belong in that picture :)
Congrats on the M6 by the way, the Wetzlars rule!

Yup! Thanks Andy, I found this: ebay link.

Too bad I completely miss the black plastic box w/red fabric inside.
I wonder what the styrofoam originally was, because it has a perfect match with the camera... at a closer look there is a difference: the foam has a place for two flash sync plugs instead of the single one my M6 has...

Well, I'm in the market for a black plastic M6 case at this point.

Thanks all for the quick answer.

Cheers, Andrea

Though the price those guys are asking for a supposedly mint M6 Wetzlar is ridiculous. About $1000 more than it should be and could find elsewhere.

Yeah, 2,5K$ and they are shipping from China for 50$ too... luckily I got mine for one third of that! (not minty though...)
