Good day to all. I want to buy a Leica and I am wearing glasses. Please help me with choosing a viewfinder magnification.

I have tested a Leica M7 with 0.58 mag VF with 50mm Summilux attached. Is it normal that I can see through the viewfinder part of the 50mm Summilux lense? What if I attach a 75mm Summilux what would be the effect?

I have used a M3 0.72 mag VF with 35mm Summicron, which my friend lent to me for my vacation, and I do not see the lense in the viewfinder.

Thanks for your help

Welcome to the forum Jouvet! 🙂 Yes it is normal that you see a small part of some lenses (the fatter ones) in the viewfinder. It is the larger diameter lenses that occlude the VF, the 35mm Summicron must have a smaller size so you didn't see it.

This is a fact of life with rangefinder cameras.
