M7 battery question

I was at Rat Shack yesterday to buy some backup batteries for my M7. There were a couple of off-brand 3v lithium batteries of the kind the manual calls for, at about $10 apiece. Then there was a single Duracell 6v lithium battery, the precise size of two of the other kind, for $15.

I bought the two, as I didn't have the camera with me and couldn't check. But for future reference, is it possible to wedge in the one big battery through the little door, or do you need to buy the two separate smaller ones?

I think that considering that M7's cost a fair piece of change, I would only try the 2 Lithium 3v version.

Well, there wouldn't be a compatibility problem, electronically speaking. The larger battery is specifically marketed as a replacement for two of the other batteries--it even says "2 x whatever" (the part number of the smaller battery) on it. I'm just wondering if the thing fits.

I don't have my M7 bodies any more but I'm sure it doesn't. You can only fit one CR 1/3N battery through the door at one time, so you might want to return that 6v for a refund. I've also bought in Radio Shack when desperate but it's a good idea to buy in bulk, say 10 at a time.

Varta make what are probably the best batteries, here's a link with good prices: http://bit.ly/SDRRj. I've also had very good service from Sanyo CR 1/3N batteries, they can be bought in bulk over the web too. Sanyo are kind of a sleeper company when it comes to batteries, if you have a flash you absolutely have to have their eneloop rechargeable NiMH AA batteries, they are incredible.

Like I said, I got the two correct sized batteries, not the big one! No need to return. But I am sure bookmarking that link--thank you! I'll buy in bulk from there when I need more.

the 6v only is recommended by Leica. They might last longer as well

Absolutely false.
The M7 manual states compatable batteries include both the the Duracell and Varta 1/3N and the when stacked together, they offer exactly the same voltage as the 6V. Besides as pointed out, how are you going to get a 6v into an M7?-Dick

The 6V version DOES NOT fit into the M7. However it is possible to fit four single SR44 cells into the M7 when there are no two CR 1/3N batteries available.
