The light blinks if you either have the ISO set other than DX, and/or the exposure compensation set to some value other than 0. If it's not that then it's a malfunction.
Ahhh… freaking thing… the ISO dial was just a tad off the DX mark, so I did a slight adjustment, and everything is fine now… I was shooting about 10 rolls with this blinking light and was really starting to bother me.
Yeah, happens to me a lot. Sometimes just bumping against my chest while carrying it can knock the dial from the DX mark. A quick turn of the dial and it's back.
I'm plagued with this too when on DX. I've since switched to setting the ISO myself and the problem has vanished. Then the little light usually only blinks when I've made a compensation adjustment. Nobody has yet started the old 'get an MP' saw! lets keep it that way. Different strokes ya know.
