i need to know if bulk film cassettes
fit inside the leica m7.

does anyone know for certain?

thanks in advance for any assistance.

I use bulk film cassettes with my m7 with no problems. The only thing I had to figure out was that, if one leaves the ISO setting on "DX", the m7 automatically sets the metering to 100iso. I overexposed a roll of triX doing that. You just have to be mindful of the iso setting.

thanks for the response. i was worried bulk cassettes might be too tight, but
i did get some from adorama, and they work fine.

i'm curious about something else.
the iso setting on the m7.
mine is really difficult to select/turn.

are they all like that, or is it limited to the
used one i purchased.

thanks again,
r

Perhaps it's just tight to stop it from slipping. I guess these things are designed to wear in.

On another note, though I don't know if it's relevant to you, it also seems that one can purchase DX coded bulk cassettes.

All the best, Benjamin

Bulk film cassettes (not the original Leica metal ones) work in my M7. One more tip, I have bought some Kodak Double-X 5222 film pre-loaded in film-canisters of disposable cameras. These canister have a bar-code at the position where the DX code should be and my M7 "reads" 5000ASA ... Covering the bar-code with black tape helped.

The ASA and DX dial are both more difficult to set than at my former M6 or M6TTL.
