i have an a al carte M7 that i'd really like to treat to a repaint. i know this matter has been addressed in these forums before. any updates? i have found that many of repainters won't work on M7s

a repainted a la carte M7 will destroy its value
sell it, buy a standard M7
and repaint that one.

or better yet, have an M4 painted to your heart's content
with a HUGE M7 on the top plate.
or M12 if you really want some laughs

If the base metal is brass, go for it. But if it's a zinc casting, I'd leave it alone, as the stock plating serves as a barrier to corrosion.

Zinc can be painted, no problem. But it obviously won’t brass.

If you can find someone to disassemble and reassemble the M7 and send me just the parts for paint, I can do it. But I don’t want to tinker with electronic Ms, too much can go wrong at big $$$.

If the condition is good, repaint is not worth it. If they are beat up cameras, worth to overhaul, repair and bring it into a better functional and cosmetic condition

i bought the camera which had already been repainted by Shuiedo and it turned out to be a crappy job. the glossy paint was laid on too thick and i'm not happy with it. i'm not a fan of glossy anyway. i am looking for someone to correct this. therefore, if it ever had any "value," it already gone. to be honest, i don't really care about the camera's value proposition anyway. i want to use it, not sell it. i had a repainted M3 with a look that i loved, gray/black matte with contrasting semi-gloss bits. here are pictures of them both. i'd like the M7 to be as similar as possible.

i am capable to disassembling the camera. i've asked folks like Kanto in Japan, who won't work on M7's, if i could send them disassembled parts and they said no. same with one other place that i'm not recalling at the moment. please tell me more.

Robert does great work. Painted several Leicas for me. A Leica II he painted not glossy. The IF was painted glossy anti panda style. The M3 he did for me a while back was semi gloss if I remember and also was anti panda.
