I know there have been numerous 'focus issue' threads on the M8, but I haven't found one that quite matches what I'm seeing. I've just got a new screw mount 35 that I'm seeing issues with. I have a few other 35s and an M6 to compare with.

I've seen mention of screw mount lenses focussing 'beyond infinity' in the case of 'thin' adapters. But I'm seeing different behaviour from body to body.

I'll try and keep it brief:

Two cameras: Leica M6, Leica M8
Four lenses: 35-1(M), 35-2(M), 35-3(S), 35-4(S) (keeping it annonymous)
Three LTM-M adapters: A-1, A-2, A-3 (two CV, one unbranded)

- My main problem - The rangefinder patch will not reach infinity focus with the M8, lens 35-4, and any of the LTM-M adapters.

- Both M-mount lenses focus fine on the M8.

- Lens 35-3 also doesn't quite reach infinity in the focus patch, but comes closer than 35-4.

- The different adapters all focus maybe slightly differently, but it's very close.

- All four lenses focus the RF patch fine on the M6.

Now...I like this lens, 35-4, a lot. And the pictures at infinity seem in good focus wide open. And close focus is fine too (as good as my skills allow). But that obvious problem with infinity makes me feel there is an imprecision that doesn't inspire confidence.

Any suggestsions? Try a fourth, fifth adapter? Should I worry about the lens setup if the images are ok? Should I worry about the body?
