M8 and Voigtlaender Glass?

Hello!
Sorry for this question, i guess it has been answered many times till now, but i dare to ask it one more time, because i am considering buying a used M8.

I got several Voigtländer Optics, 35mm 1.4 for example. If i use this - do i have to use an IR Filter? What about the 6-bit coding?
And, finally, the 35mm will become 46mm, right?

IR: yes. Unless you like your blacks in purple (or magenta?) 😀
Coding: some say it's a must, some say it works without. My CV 35/1.4 is not coded and I like the results.
35=46: a physicist would say that the lens still has a focal length of 35mm even when mounted on a M8 😉 But you are right. What you get, looks like it was taken with a 46mm lens.

Coding is only needed for 28 and shorter - and yes - the IR filter must be used.

I've been using the 35/1.7 Ultron with a B&W IR-cut filter on my M8. I have not detected any issues with lack of 6-bit coding. Focus is spot-on, no problems encountered.

Ultron 35/1.7, wide-open on the M8. Slow shutter speed.
