M8 and ZM 50 out of focus?

I bought a new 50 ZM planar some time ago for my m8. I have the feeling its most of the time out of focus when the subject is far away. When the subject is close, It looks more in focus. Looks like the futher way the subject, the more its out of focus.

With my other lenses I don't have any problems. The 35/1.4 nokton, with a small DOF always focusses right on. And so is the other zeiss. So I think its not the rangfinder being oof.

The lens isn't coded, and I use a B+W uv/ir filter. If this can be the case.

Is there a opportunity to solve this?

Wont be anything to do with filter and/or coding. Post a couple of photos up showing the problems ( it might help some of the experts diagnose it easier)
I know the sonnar exhibs some focus shift but the planar shouldnt.

Okey, Here are some pictures I took today.

I took 3 types, one far, one half way and one close (0,7m).

I also took multiple pictures, refocusing all the time, to short out personal failure.
These images are the best I got.

In the first image I focused at the spidersweb (I think it is) but to me the focus seems to be at the front of the bucket (Can't come up to its proper english translation). The bucket is in front of the spidersweb.

On the second one, I focused at the corner of the flowerbucket. But the leaves look sharper to me (they are behind the corner)

And in the last picture, the tree looks a bit fuzzie to me.

All pictures taken with the m8 on 160 asa and the zeiss at f/2 from a tripod with a releasecable.
Pictures are RAW's, and convertet to jpg's in capture one without any sharpening.

Maybe I'm mierenneuken (a dutch word for blowing up minor details), but my 28 biogon ZM gives me much sharper images, while the reviews say the 50 planar should be the better lens.


So am I right on this? Or does it looks the same with other planars and am I just expecting to much from this lens?
And is it possible to calibrate (and is this necessarily) my camera/ lens without making the other lenses out of focus?
And, last question, does anybody know some place in the Netherlands where this can be done?

I contacted the store this morning and they are willing to change my lens for another 50 planar. Lucky I still have all the boxes and even the plastics 🙂

Yeah I'm happy with the service. The next one I will test the same day.

And, next week they have a leica demonstration day with the M9 and the S2. So I will have something to do when waiting for the other one 🙂
