So many diverse opinions. I guess that your stuck with trying different approaches over the years and seeing what you like. I suspect that this is what all of us have done. If possible, buy before you sell your old cameras. You just might find that like many, there isn't one camera/approach that works all of the time. Also, don't do what I do and never sell a camera, even when you should. Good luck.

I recently got an M8 as well, but I've kept my E-PL1 as a backup in its own right. I don't like the idea of getting an extra viewfinder for the Leica to use those ultrawide lenses, so instead I've bought 9-18mm for the PL1. I also got the M-mFT adapter which essentially transforms the E-PL1 into a 2x tele converter for my M-lenses (longest is a 90mm Elmar-C). With this, I have essentially a very high quality and versatile setup from 18-180mm (35mm equivalent), which with 2 cameras and 5 lenses weighs something in the range of 2kg
So, to cut it short, I would consider letting go of the DSLR but keeping the GF1 as a supplement if you can anyhow afford it, as it nicely compliments your M gear...

I went from a M8 to a Nikon D700 to a Leica M8.2. Why? Because I feel more comfortable with a rangefinder... it really comes down to that.
interesting steps to return to an M. i'd like to hear more about how this came about.
i had a similar temptation. i have an M8 and was in a stage (about a year ago) when i pondered the first step from M8 to D700. then i regained my sanity (actually, my wife--a non-photographer--talked me out of the change, reminding me of all of the things i like about RF photography. gotta love her). she was right because i now know a step from M8 to D700 would have left me longing for another M.
i no longer feel any temptation by an SLR, but i--unlike lots of folks on RFF--am a one-camera guy (though i'll likely add some sort of a small backup before my next trip).
