I need a fairly accurate idea of the front to back dimension of the removable base plate of the new M8. I know it is more than the M7, which is very close to 32mm from front to back. Could any of you have any way to find out what the M8 is? I have no idea who has access to one so they could measure it, but I imagine one of you does.

Actually, I believe that several accessory baseplates like the Lens Holder.. will work just fine on the M8.

The tripod attachment hole on the M8 is centered, not off to the side.
Also notable besides the increased depth, is that the locking key is on the opposite side from film-Ms and the lug on the other end is a long, narrow rectangle rather than the "D" shape of film-Ms.
