FAO JAAPV: Just joined this thread. I use C1 Pro for RAW adj and conversion followed by some more adj in PSE (hope to get CS3 soon). Can I confirm: are you saying then in my workflow that I should convert the DNG files from the M8 as 16bit TIFFs so any Photoshop adj are done in 16bit before final conversion to 8bit for the things that PS will only do in 8bit? That would make sense if it does make a difference. Unfortunately to date I took the line that 8 bit files were no use converting as 16bit, but I think I see your point. Tom

Probably no good reason. As you say, archiving; I then add output-specific sharpening and convert to JPEG for most uses. I have never used PSD (or layers). Perhaps I should but life is too short for me to do all that and keep up my enjoyable but very time consuming job. Not to worry; I've just about found a workflow that works for me (printing and colour management aside!!). Tom
