M8 controversy

I feel the M8 is just too expensive and not without some rather alarming issues not yet addressed. I think we may see other camera manufactures stepping up to the plate and provide the consumer with an improved product at a realistic price. For me the M8 got it half right.

The threads that brought the problems to light, those that asked the questions we all had on our minds regarding how possibly Leica and the reviewers could not have known ahead of time, those that offered some interim software workarounds for early-adopters plagued with the M8 problems, and the threads that list what Leica proposes to do to fix them, are all worthwhile reading. The rest of the "we should crucify Leica" or "we should excuse Leica" threads to me are pointless. Now the only thing left is for each person to decide for themselves whether the M8 and its filters+coding+firmware fix is for them or not. That's a personal decision. In my case its more financial than anything else. I can barely see my way to buying the M8. Add the filters and coding, plus at least one brand new Leica lens to fill the wide end instead of my Voitlander 15, and it's hopelessly beyond my means. For those who can afford not only the M8 but all the added items now needed to make it fully functional, I think they will enjoy it very much. Maybe if someone comes up with some new info or profiles or a Photoshop action or two that at least would make it unneccessary for the coding, then I might be able to get back in this game. Oh well....🙁
