Hi all,
I'm currently considering getting a second hand M8 for a digital camera. I would be very interested in looking at some raw/dng files straight out of camera. Any idea where I could download some? I'm mainly interested in seeing what the noise is like with higher ISO and how it cleans up in Lightroom.
Many thanks,
Jani

Noise isn't that bad. It cleans up very well at 1250 in LR3. Dunno of a site with downloads, maybe try dPreview?

Anybody care to send me some test shots at low and high ISO?

Here's one raw file at 1250 iso and the corresponding jpeg out of C1 & CS3. Would you mind to display what LR3 can do with it?

Hi,
thanks for these. The link to the jpeg file seems to be broken, but I got the DNG file, thanks.
I'm posting LR edited jpegs shortly.
cheers,

I had to go to 100 level of colour noise removal with 57 detail. Luminance noise removal 30 with 50 detail. All in all I have to say that although this was one of the noisiest files that I've worked with (my oldest ever digital camera has been Canon 450D, I'm a film shooter mainly), it does clean up rather nicely.
Not sure yet what to do, then again, I would rather rarely need to go up to 1250 ISO as I normally max out at 800 ASA on film. Thank you nevertheless for the file!
cheers,
Jani

If you had to go so high you applied insufficient masking or far too much sharpening (M8 files require far less sharpening than Canon files 10-20 is enough, often 0). 55 luminance and 25 color did the trick for me. Or do you use an older version of ACR? The newest one is spectacularly better.
