Help me decide... I definataly need to have something to grip onto with my M8... My hands are big and someone suggested the CSEP-1... However, the Photo equip MD grip looks good too! Anybody use these items that can comment?:bang:

Hi, I've used both the Leica original grip and the PhotoEquip grips. Yes, the Leica blends in with the look of the camera, however, for better gripping, the PhotoEquip is definitely a better grip. It has the rubber cover which give you a solid non-slip grip and the shape fits your hand much better than the Leica. A combo with the CSEP-1 will give you the ultimate grip. Now, your decision is for looks or for function??:bang: Good luck.

Thanks, yes it's really for function... I always feel i'm going to pick up my M8 and it's going to squirt out of my hands some day!.... I'll most likely go for the Photoequip one... It looks awesome and you can just grip the camera from that angle and hold it that way... Problaby will also get the grip for my dlux4 as that is the same issue.

I've got a Leica grip for both my Leicas. They work fine for me.

I just checked out the Photoequip grip. It looks nice. I suspect it is functional as well.

You probably can't go wrong with either one.

Try the Thumbs Up (any version) with a Luigi case if you want a bit of protection for the camera as well. I've got the Luigi case with the slight "bump" and combined with the TU that adds a lot of grip to the camera.

I have the photoequip grip for my film M - its a really nice grip, but I find it a bit heavy for prolonged use. The TU is smaller and lighter, and its what I prefer most of the time...

I have large hands also, so I use both the MD-Grip, and various versions of the Thumbs Up. When not using the MD-Grip, I have my M8 in Luigi's 1/2 case with built in grip.

PS I don't find the grip too, heavy.

I find this to be my favorite Combo. Thumbs Up Model 1, Luigi Case w/Grip and Tom's Mini Soft Shutter Release.
I also have Leica's grip for the M8, but normally use the case if I'm out banging around.

so would you say that the luigi option is the best? protects the camera, has a bump for grip control along with the csep-1 and beep?

thanks guys... randy that's an awesome setup and what i'm looking for... now it's time to get the wallet out for the luigi case.... urgh!

Thumbs Up + Griptac

Thumbs Up + Griptac

Like you large hands. I like to hide the camera by cupping in, holding against my palm. I found the Thumbs Up very good and even better after adhering some Griptac to it. This along with a wrist strap keeps the camera secure.

Well, I have sort of small hands, and I'm also a bit of a wimp, so that may explain things :D

I like all 3

I like all 3

Here is a pic of my M8 with the CSEP-4 and Boop, Luigi 1/2 case with grip, and the CV 21mm f/4 and viewfinder(bought from our Local Bartender).

I just got the MD grip a couple of days ago. I like it better then the cramped Leica grip. I don't like all of the white lettering on the back on the grip's baseplate. I think it should be lots more discrete. I'm also thinking of removing the rubberized material and replacing it with some "vulcanite" to more closely match the M8.2's covering.

More Discrete?

More Discrete?

I have 2 ML and I MD grips. If the grip is on the camera, how can it be more discrete? The engraving is facing you so, who is going to see it except you? I have the black and chrome versions and I have not had any problems with "discrete".
If you need to delete the white lettering, take a black marker and cover the white lettering.

Match Tech CSEP-1

I just receive the CSEP-1 and the Beep from Tim Isaac at match tech... WOW! Packaging is awesome, products are awesome... You should really look into this product as it looks and operates great on the M8... Thanks Tim.:p

Hi ,
For me , "Thumb up "is ,by far , the best solution....
It's simple , elegant , and very secure and useful...
I have a CS3 on each of my M8 ,
and I can't think using them without...

Best
Claude
