M8 IR images (R72) in the cold (15 deg F)

These were taken with a Hoya R72 filter, with either the 35 lux pre-asph, or Canon 28/2.8 lens. Tungsten WB setting here.

very nice work (I hesitate to say "cool" when the temp is so low🙂). I especially like L1027860. The jet contrails and power lines add a nice contrast to all that nature. I also like the people wandering through the grass.

I really enjoyed these photos!!! Do you have to visualize the scene differently when taking IR photos? I know that the wave length of IR is different forcing you to focus at a different point than perceived by the eye.

pretty easy

for monochrome IR, it's pretty easy, although I captured in color and converted in picasa. With the M8, you only give up a stop or two with this filter. The hard thing is anything moving since you have a slower exposure and have to worry about focus.

On the Canon 28 I have an IR mark so I would focus, then move the focus point a bit past (closer) than the mark. On the lux, I would just move the focus closer by a couple of notches on the dof scale. Pretty much need to use trial and error, and bracket when you can for the best focus.
