M8 LCD cover glass falls off!

I have had my M8 for 15 months of problem free service. But yesterday I went to take some cat pictures and the LCD cover glass was missing. I found it on the floor but it would not stay attached to the LCD. The glue line feels as though it was attached by a contact cement because it was still sticky, but not enough stickem to remain attached. Any suggestions?

Where are you? In the UK (and I think Europe) the M8 comes with a two year warranty. Send it back and get them to put a new one on.

Mine came off when I tried to remove a screen protector. I contacted Leica, and they repaired it free of charge, despite my warranty expiring a few weeks before. Get it to Leica, they will treat you right!

The cat is not supposed to hook its claws behind the LCD glass...😀
It is quite possible for the glass (well, plastic) to come off, as it is stuck on with a kind of doublesided Sellotape. Possible reasons are solvent from cleaner, excessive heat, or simply spontaneously. It is no big deal to stick back on, but it must be done by Leica, as it must be done in a dust-free environment and must fit hermetically. So you'll have to send it in.

You'd probably best let Leica or your dealer take care of it.

That said, if you were to warm the edges of the cover glass with a hair dryer, press it into place and let it cool, it would probably stick back on. This has been reported on l-camera-forum.com. Some people who used a Giotto external screen protector and then used the hair dryer trick to remove it found that the cover glass came off, too. Leica must be using heat-softenable glue.

But as I said, since it's under warrantee, best let the warrantee process take care of it. The above comes with no warrantee or guarantee of mechantability or fitness for any purpose, blah blah blah. 😱

Thanks to everyone for suggestions. I will send to Leica for repair. I would hate to put any heat to the LCD because I fear it will not be good for , Leica can do their thing. I would also like report that Nothing has ever fallen off of my M2, M6. I got the cat picts on film.
