What I mean is basically I was surprised when Leica chose the name M8.
Firstly Nikon Canon etc all changed there naming scheme for digital and they don't have as big of a traditionalist beardo market Leica have, Secondly I said the numbers would now start to go up really quickly and it turns out I was wrong because it went up another number much quicker than I was expecting, but neither of those are my main point.

It seems like a big middle finger to film, basically they are saying that's it we can never improve on the M7 and we will never need to, now it looks like that might be the case now, but look at how popular digital instruments once were back when they were the new technology, digital cameras will never go away and I wouldn't want them to, but they are also the cool technology right now, I'm not saying that I would expect the sales of film based Leica's to ever go back to what they were, but if they are still making the M7 in years to come and they want to make an improvement to the design, then it might look like they were a little naive.

Why couldn't the M10 (MX?) be film?

Either way, I don't think there is improving to be had upon an MP. I like the pre-M4 lever and rewind and lack of AE/AF.

You mean when Leica realise the error of their ways and abandon digital to return to film! 😀

Actually, the MP came out after the M7 and before the M8, with no number. Does this suggest anything?

They could use the name MP-2 but an MP-3 might be a little confusing...
