m8 more popular now?

I supect the M8 was always destined to be a second hand success ... it was way to pricey for what we actually got when it was initially released IMO!

At a couple of grand it's a gem of a camera.

i have always loved the M8. i have it and want to have it as long as it will have me. sure, it has its quirks, but--for me--they are dwarfed by the upsides.

both are nice

i enjoyed my rd1 thoroughly; a fun camera to use, and mine was trouble free.
sold it and bought a used m8, and i'm loving it, especially after it's return from nj.
i was in nyc last week and saw numerous used m8 bodies on the shelf of dealers, trade ins for m9s... all priced right at $2K. seems to be the basic price these days, and with an in-store 30 day warranty...
if you don't have one yet, i'd say now is the time to get one and start shooting and getting to know all it has to offer.

Why no $2K on Ebay?????

Why no $2K on Ebay?????

I am debating about getting an M9 (I have a trusty M8 that has been perfect since day one in 2007) and am coming down to the conclusion that a second M8 makes more sense financially and technologically (the M9's much greater cost does not translate into much greater ISO performance or resolution). I will wait it out until the third generation (M9.2 or M10). I have a black, but would love the Chrome (I also would prefer a real chrome M9, but the M8 is the only show in town for this).

Now i hear dealers in NY are selling them right at 2K. Why are they more on Ebay?

Which dealers have them at that price and in what condition? I am very interested!

the specific shop i saw a couple in was photo care at 41 West 22nd Street.
nice knowledgeable staff w good inventory or used leica glass. last week they had 2 or 3 used m8s on the shelf.
disclaimer: no affiliation with the store.
i was very tempted by a well worn 35 summicron that was from a well known artist.

Tamarkin.com has many M8s for sale, and M8.2s. Just to let you know.
