The guy didn't even do a good job in Photoshop. Can't believe there are bids on this thing.

I like it that he is "new" to ebay on the same day he starts a $ 4000 auction - no mention of the lens.... and I think I have seen the ebay handle "roby..." in other scam auctions....

Just reported this fraud. Let's see what Ebay does now.

Gee, will he ship to me in Indonesia?
Seriously, a M8 from a zero feedback seller should be mated to a Noctilux from a zero feedback seller.

At least the lens fellow didn't register this week.
I'll have my bank in Lagos wire funds to both.

Looks like an M7 body with the lever removed. Does the M8 even come with that finish?

The preview lever is definitely wrong as is the leatherette, the metal piece that holds the baseplate is too big and on the wrong side, and there is no red dot under the on/off switch.
Yeesh....

I'm confused. It would have been easier to post a pic from the net. Why bother with photoshop.

Yep, that's not an M8. The frame counter, the legend on the viewfinder, the absent image counter LCD on the top left side (well, right side, from this point of view), the frameline lever, the leatherette, the speed dial. Sheez, what a dope!

Wow! snap up this rarity. My m8 has the frame indicator on the other side of the top plate.

Wow, what a tragedy. The buyer has to pay with a money order too. Someone is going to be out a lot of money...

An absolute shame that ebay did nothing, yes; but honestly isn't it hard to feel sorry for a bidder who actually bid on this single picture? If he knew what an M8 was it would seem natural that he could have spotted any one of the multiple obvious photoshop mishaps employed on the image.
I for one don't feel much, if any, pity for one who would be ignorant enough to bid on said camera.

I was looking for a second M8 body and seen the listing also. I also email Ebay
as I have been scammed myself. Interesting photo of the body made me do a little
searching and found the photo in question. It is on Photo.net from 2003. The link:

I looked again and the listing had just ended. Should I point out to the buyer that the image is a fake?

I was able to track the buyer's email down (GOOGLE is your friend) and let him know of my concerns on the extremely poor picture of the pseudo M8. He was somewhat thankful for our attention. Who in their right mind would spend $4251 on a camera without knowing minor details, like missing physical features!

Very scarry thing. Worst is that now you have no way of warning folks bidding on these things that there might be a problem. This blind bidding is not good IMHO.
Zero feedback, hacked photo of the item, I would have asked a ton of questions.
Saddly, I fear someone looking for a bargin has spent way too much. For me at least, when you cross over a boundry ($$$) I would rather buy new from a dealer I can trust.

And at $4,251 the guy did not even get a very good deal - an OK deal (if it was real, which it ain't) but not a great deal. Not one I'd risk nearly $5k on. Am I the only person who insists on using escrow.com for these big purchases?
