Exactly.

I am happy to see that noise was well under control. It does look like there is some noise in the higher ISO's but it in Black and White mode it will be very pleasing IMHO.

there's a saying in german: (translated by me ..)

if the farmer can't swim, it must be his trunks' fault.

I'm no expert by any means, don't own a Leica so I'm not biased toward them, and I'm really not impressed with digital at all, because most cameras, when you get above 400iso, quality goes down hill really fast. After viewing these shots with the M8, I was really impressed with the quality of the images with this camera. Especially at 2500iso! WOW!!! I don't know of any digital camera that can touch this except maybe those full frame sensor Canons, and then I wouldn't bet on it because the lens quality of those Leica lenses are much better. Also, who wants to lug around one of those huge monstrosities unless your'e on the sideline of a Carolina Panthers..:D [BIG FAN] football game. I think Leica has a big winner here.

Your predictable comments about the M8 are boring...

Anybody remember an old U.S. TV series called Banacek, about a guy who always had old Polish or Czech proverbs that never quite made sense?

I am wondering why Leica hasn't ponied up some example files for everyone to see. Canon always does this. Leica should get on the bandwagon. Seems that everyone is flying blind if you are considering purchasing one of these. Really makes no sense.

I'd like to see them do it too, but really, there are plenty of people out there willing to drop the cash regardless of whether or not image quality is proven. For that matter, plenty who'd buy it even if it proves inferior to a 5D! It's an exciting camera, though. I'd sold a couple seldom-used pieces to put aside the cash for one, but after the hysteria passed through me, I decided I'd rather put it into a new Ebony 4x5 kit. I'm plenty happen with what my existing Ms do for me.

There are plenty who would buy it because it's a rangefinder camera, which the Canon 5D is not.

This is exactly why they're trying to stifle any images from coming out: less-than-mediocre shots that are actually more the fault of the shooter rather than the camera, and the anti-Leica-brand people pointing to them as evidence of something being wrong (or uneventful) with the camera.

Get the patties before grilling them.

on the other hand, plenty will buy the 5d to use the fast 28/1.8 and 35/1.4 lenses, something you're not going to get anytime soon on a drf.

again, stupid of Leica to not release any official images from the M8 and allow these lame examples to be our 1st exposure of images from the M8.. stupid stupid..

What does that have to do with the difference between RF and SLR viewing?

It's a bit like saying you're going to buy a Mercedes instead of a Sea Ray because the ride is smoother on the freeway.
