I have a M8 that was made in 2006 with about 14000-15000 shots on it was wondering if it would be a good idea to send it to Leica for a CLA/Overhual? I haven't had any issue with it since buying it used about a year ago but do plan on/would like to be able to keep using it for several more years. So would it be a good idea to have a CLA/Overhaul now, or just wait to see if any issues develop and then send it in?

Thanks Mike

A few months ago, Leica had a special CLA offer for $300 on M8's. My M8 was working fine but I sent it in and it came back sparkling clean with little details like the M8 logo repainted. See if this offer is still going. My M6 is there now for service and it will cost $580. These cameras are precision mechanical devices and won't run forever without a little care.

Not forever, but for a very long time. And while I'd trust many repairers for a repair, I'd hesitate to trust anyone but Leica for a proper strip, clean and overhaul.

Cheers,
