I understand that Leica is proposing that users get their lenses coded and also use a filter to fix the IR Magenta problem. The question is, what about those of us who have lenses not on the list of lenses that can be coded? Second question, is the problem at all iso's or just above iso 400?

I'm in the same situation with several Voigtlander and Canon rangefinder lenses that can't be coded. It's rumored Leica will be making a public announcement regarding the fixes next Monday.

The magenta problem caused by IR occurs at all ISO settings. It's tentatively been reported that the "green blob" and magenta problems are much reduced or non existent when an IR blocking filter is used. There's still the issue of green corners with wide angle lenses when a type 486 UV-IR cut filter is used and streaking due to overexposed highlights.

The coding on the lenses was originally designed to reduce vignetting on wider lenses. Before the camera was released, most people had already agreed that while this was convenient, it wasn't really necessary -- most raw processors already offer this in software.

You should be able to use your 15 CV if you can get a filter for it (is it even threaded for a filter?) The cyan shift, according to the technical people who know about these things, can also be corrected either with a fairly simple firmware tweek, or with a new color profile from C1.

Some people are pushing hard for a menu-driven lens selection (which could easily be done, rather than using coding on the lenses themselves) which would open up the possibility of using non-Leica lenses with full firmware operability.

I also think you will begin to see software-solutions on the web for non-Leica lenses, that can simply be loaded into Lightroom or C1.
